Passive Income Streams March 2018

Yay, preparing and submitting taxes is behind us, and it is time to check how our passive income was in March. This month our passive income streams delivered more than $1,400, totaling $1,412. The best part is that we can anticipate similar numbers in the future. I am excited to see a new tiny passive income stream this month, which comes in the form of blog income.

It is such a nice perk to receive passive income every month. I could get used to it.

Our monthly passive income of $1,412 is equivalent to $423,600 if invested at annual 4 percent rate. How much have we actually invested to generate such an income?

  1. $180,000 dividend portfolio
  2. $53,580 rental property down payment
  3. $12,000 lending loop
  4. $0 in private mortgage (we invested borrowed money from the appreciated rental property)
  5. $320 to set up this blog

In total, we invested $245,900 to generate $1,412 monthly, which is 6.89 percent annually. Wow, that means we receive 6.89 percent annually from highly diversified five income streams (one is too small to count, but it is still on the list)! This return does not include stocks capital gains in dividend portfolio and property appreciation. There is no financial product on the market that will provide these kinds of returns and the same level of diversification. From my experience, banks offer the following investments.

Dividends

We received $672.57 in dividends from 16 companies. Our average monthly income from dividends is about $600.

Rental Property

where to invest

Business as usual here. From the rental property, we are collecting $269.32 in profit. If you want to know more about our successful investment in rental property, you can read more in my Rental Income post.

Lending Loop

We received $91.99 this month from profit lending to small businesses on Lending Loop. Keeping our 2018 financial goals in mind, we still have to improve our monthly income from this income stream.

Blog Income

This is the first time I checked my Google AdSense account and was surprised to see that this blog actually generates a small amount of income. This month, the income totaled $2.91.

Google AdSense

Yahoo!!! Although it does not cover hosting expenses, it is a start. I have never done any serious work to improve SEO of this blog or apply other techniques to increase the income generated from this blog. I should definitely do it! What do I have to lose? I can help this tiny income stream grow. I like the kind of investment where you put your money and time into something that may generate more income.

Hungry for More Passive Income Streams

Like a snowball, our investments are growing even faster than I anticipated, and we are looking for more passive income streams. I will search for more information about the following investments:

  • Buying and renting vacation cabin/home — rental property for short period of vacation time
  • eBook — a good source of links to this blog and may generate income by itself
  • Taking passive part in a small business
